I was lucky enough to live with Brian and his wife Carol (who is my wonderful friend and is responsible for the tie-dyed aesthetic of Little Shop), when we were in grad school at Cornell University in the '80's. Even then he was a wiz at making physics easy to understand (Carol and I were in the humanities); I remember sitting around the kitchen table together and thinking, "This guy could teach anything." And he was lots of fun. I've stayed in the field of education myself and count Brian as one of my inspirations. Rock on!
