Smart School Architecture - Form Follows Function

Submitted by Adrian Lim (from Singapore) (not verified) on July 5, 2007 - 19:14.

I think schools must ensure that the school infrastructure is sufficiently flexible to support their curriculum and various pedagogical approaches to better engage students in learning. I believe that any highly innovative curriculum designs can only fully realize their potential through highly innovative architectural designs. Therefore, “form follows function” must be a prevailing classroom design principle.

In addition, schools have to involve teachers and students in proposing new classrooms and outdoor-space design that will best support their teaching and student learning before working with the professional architects and design consultants.
