In my view we [adults andnot just schools] need -desperately need to instill the love and passion for learning. Not only the 3 R's - although tha't not bad but learning because its fun to know things - alkl kinds of things from when the first strike in history took place and where and why [over onions] toexploring the furthest reaches of sceince. Reading and the understandingof words, metaphors and writing in sometimes "incorrect" ways are at the basis of learning - yes even math but it is the passion that really counts.
This can be done if we [adults] exalt learning and showing youngsters by engaging in learning all the time and making it possible for anyone and everyone to learn when, where and how much they can possibly stuff in. books and computers for all - learn about it all.
