As a school board member committed to making change happen, I bookmarked this article with great anticipation, intending to read it with relish at my first opportunity.
When I finally sat down to read it this morning, I got as far as the first couple of paragraphs. All I had to read was, "With a $5 million grant..."
I'm sorry, I can't read any more. I have in my care a very poor rural district. We have the best of intentions but no grant money (yet, anyway.)
We could move mountains with $5 million, but we don't have %5 million.
I'd love to see an article entitled, "School Change on $25 Dollars a Day." That would be something worth reading. Not that this article isn't, but attacking district-wide change on a budget is what I'm dealing with and would love the guidance of stories like ours.
Discouraging
