Congratulations to the Wetland Watchers

This lesson involved a teacher who gave a great deal of his time pre-planning, applying for grants, involving partnerships and his school, establishing a community focus for students to share new knowledge, and already having a positive learning environment established within his classroom.
The mere excitement shown to one of the Wetland Watchers was contagious as he gathered the other students & equally involved them around him to examine the slimy creature's identification.
The teacher became the guiding force behind this project, while the focus on learning was student-centered. Students were actively engaged, able to connect their learning experiences to the real world, worked together cooperatively, and by presenting their findings in many forums demonstrated their understanding of the subject matter. One question: How was technology incorporated into this lesson such as the use of computers and software such as collecting data perhaps using a spreadsheet, and possibly organizing findings via graphic organizer, etc?
Finally, congratulations go out to the Wetland Watchers and all parties involved for creating such a hands-on and meaningful learning experience through a project-based learning approach.
