I am a second grade teacher and a master's student at Walden University concentrating on the area of reading and literacy. I found this article to be very interesting. The topic for study this week is brain research and the coorelation to reading difficulties with students. From what I've read there is much to learn about neuroscience that will assist us in making our classrooms more compatible with how the brain functions. The Gateway school discussed in this article seems to be on the right track with brain-compatible instruction. I found it amazing that 99% of the first graduating class went on to college.
