Despite the fact that teachers have various duties to adhere to, they need to prioritize and assure that each students academic and social needs are met. Each student has been raised in a different environment, learned different techniques on how to adapt to their world and how to respond to different stimuli, therefore, their educational needs to match their internal academic framework. Like many schools, Gateway has Internet access that allows students to have their own account to customize their educational needs. What I perceive to be beneficial for Gateway students is the ability to have a one on one experience to gain tutoring, self-fulfillment and individualize their academic goals. As teachers we need to consult with our administrators about integrating activities that students are interested in into the lesson plans and validating their social needs to show how they in turn are affected by their academic accomplishments.
