This article emphasizes the importance of giving kids opportunities to not only become more conscious consumers of media, but also to become more conscious creators of media. Also, I love that it mentions bringing parents into the picture. How many parents don't even know what Media Literacy means. Many teachers mistake it for learning how to use the latest media technology.
I love Edutopia and find lots of great articles and ideas. I wish there was more state funding for Media Literacy programs in the U.S. public schools--why aren't we more like Canada? Oh, now I remember, we have No Child Left Behind.
