Here's a blog with lots of pics of ideas for set-up for serious fun in science http://takeactionscience.wordpress.com/2010/08/30/setting-up-for-serious...

Thanks for starting this off, Gaeten. It's so important to have a welcoming, friendly place that kids want to come to AND that is easy for us and them to move around in, find stuff and keep stuff organized. Especially for hands-on, project based curriculum!

Being big on geography and global science, I'd add a "world map" to the other three "maps" and have the students identify significant places, red pins for "birth places" and other colors for "been there" "going there someday" "what we learned about this place" or?....

I guess I'm not the only one that prefers the classroom walls blank at the start of the year. I also view the classroom as a blank canvas which is to be decorated throughout the school year by students and myself. During the year I take examples of student work, art, and anything else that is memorable and put them on the walls. Then, at the end of the school year students can see all the topics/things that they learned about.
