Still remember watching Stand

Still remember watching Stand and Deliver in Year 9 at school. Really made me want to be a teacher - which is what I turned out as, after a few excursions.

I am, in equal parts, frustrated and inspired by Dead Poet's Society. I love the inspiration, the students finding their voices, the hope and optimism, but I also struggle with the artificiality of it all. This frustration has only occurred since I became a teacher - perhaps I am simply annoyed that I can't inspire my students like Mr Keating does.

I love the teacher/student relationships and how respect is earned not given!

An amazing example of problem/ project based learning- but not for the faint of heart I guess...

And it's not a movie, but the Phineas and Ferb episode entitled "Phineas and Ferb Get Busted" is going to make it's way into my presentations- just as soon as I can figure out the copyright issues. :-)

...because really, when it comes down to it, it's about a kid learning the most important lessons in life through unorthodox methods.

Now that's good training! (And very low tech. Not very cost-effective, perhaps, but still good stuff.)

One of my favorite "I need a good sob" movies!!! That ending... just thinking about it makes me start tearing up.
